Role Summary:

As a database administrator or DBA, you are to manage, secure, and maintain an organization's database system. The DBA monitors and ensures the smooth operation of database systems, as well as performs any necessary repairs. A DBA can work solo on a project, or collaboratively, either way, the main objective a DBA has is to store and manage data securely, give the right people access to it, and organize it so individuals may access it efficiently.

We are looking for applicants who possess an avid interest in IT and a thirst for knowledge - as this role requires that you stay current on the latest technologies.

Job Functions

• Maintaining existing databases and creating new ones in compliance with the latest information technologies and cyber security.
• Test databases and analyze reports, audit logs, and forensics to determine if any data breaches or security issues.
• Add users to the database as needed and assign them the appropriate level of access.
• Manage incidents, make executive decisions and be able to carry them out in a high-stress situations.
• Define and implement automation that will alert you of performance or integrity issues.
• Design and implement a strategy for backing up, archiving, and storing data to back up the database in the event the system is compromised.

Should-Have

• The ability to make a solid, passionate investment in the production of a database.
• Have a genuine interest in technology to keep up with the latest updates, enabling you to be confident in your decisions.
• Be able to utilize productivity tools to use time efficiently and prioritize or automate tasks.
• Able to perform tasks that require strong attention to detail and include multiple steps.
• Communicate your views, instructions, and/or guidance confidently and clearly in high-pressure circumstances.

Nice-to-Have (But not required)

• A degree or certification in Computer Science, Database Administration, or any other applicable field.
• Familiarity with: database design, documentation, coding, programming languages (API), and Database Administrator case tools (frontend/backend), knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, ext.
